Janartha Speaks Out on Illegal Masjid Row: "Peace and Law Will Prevail in Shimla"

SHIMLA: With tensions rising over the unauthorized mosque in Sanjauli, Congress MLA for Shimla Urban, Harish Janartha, has spoken directly to the citizens of Shimla on social media, urging calm and assuring that the rule of law will be upheld.

As protests are planned for September 11, Janartha has made it clear that the concerns of the people are his top priority.

"As a proud representative of Shimla, it’s my duty to ensure peace, harmony, and lawfulness in our city," Janartha stated.

"I speak for every person who calls Shimla home—no matter their caste, creed, or religion."

Addressing the concerns raised by residents, particularly about unauthorized individuals, allegedly from outside the state and possibly even Bangladesh, Janartha acknowledged the anxiety felt by the community, especially the Hindu majority.

"I understand the fears and frustrations, especially when it feels like there’s a threat to our city’s peace and harmony," he said.

He emphasized that the law will take its course if any illegal activities are found. "In Shimla, the rule of law is supreme.

"If there are unauthorized structures or illegal settlements, I assure you, the legal system will handle it."

Janartha also committed to working closely with the District Administration, Municipal Corporation, and the Police Department to conduct a full investigation.

"I will ensure that any irregularities are swiftly addressed. If laws have been broken, action will be taken—fairly and justly."

In a message to Shimla’s Hindu community, Janartha said, "Your concerns are valid, and I stand with you to protect the peace and heritage of our city. But let’s remember—we’ve always been a community that values harmony and mutual respect."

He also addressed the Muslim community, ensuring that this issue is about justice, not targeting any religion. "We are all equal under the law, and any actions will be based on legality, not prejudice."

Urging citizens to remain calm and united, Janartha concluded, "Let’s not let fear divide us. We are stronger together, and I will always stand with you to protect the interests of Shimla."

Meanwhile the government has stepped up security in Sanjauli area where the controversial Masjid is located.

Entry points of Masjid are being monitored by the police round the clock to ensure law and order.
