SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh Government has suspended the functioning of the controversial HP Staff Selection Commission Hamirpur and has appointed Officer on Special Duty OSD) with an immediate effect. The government has also stopped all ongoing recruitment process till further order. The Government has constituted SIT to probe the paper leakage scam.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu took this decision soon after the recent paper leakage of the junior auditors and computer operators -IT (JOA-IT), examination hit the headlines.
Suspension order of the HPSSC to this effect was issued in public interest here on Monday by the Chief Secretary, the government of Himachal Pradesh.
The government has appointed the ADC, Hamirpur as an OSD to take care of the official responsibilities of the HPSSC till further order. The commission has hurt the large number of people taking up the examinations.
The government has ordered the HPSSC's secretary Dr Jitendra Kumar and deputy Dr Sanjeev Kumar to the state headquaters till further order.
The Government has constituted the SIT under DIG G Sivakumar to probe the paper leakage scam. Other Police officers in the SIT to assist Sivakumar are three SPs- Rahul Nath, Anjum Ara, Balbir Singh.
The government has also constitute the technical team that would probe its technical matter.
The government found that the functioning of the commission has come under suspicion due to the repetitive leakage after leakage of question papers.
These paper leakage scams have raised a big question mark over the functioning of the commission, which has failed to discharge its responsibility and duties entrusted to the incumbent.
There were allegations the papers were leaked and sold allegedly by the office assistant in connivance with certain staff people, sources revealed.
The state vigilance has arrested a senior office assistant Uma Azad and her son Nikhil Azad, one Neeraj, two candidates Tanu Sharma and Ajay Sharma and a middle man Sanjeev Kumar for the last four days.
All the accused are in police remand till December 28.
While interacting with media, Principal Advisor (Media) to Chief Minister Naresh Chauhan said that it was also apprehended that this malpractice was going on for quite some time.
Prima facie, it appears that the Commission has not discharged its duties and responsibilities in a transparent manner, he added.
Naresh Chauhan said that the State Government led by the Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu was committed to ensure zero tolerance against corruption and has taken this historic decision to ensure complete transparency in functioning of the Commission.
