SHIMLA: The prestigious civil society organization, Integrated Mountain Initiative (IMI), has appointed two experts from Himachal Pradesh to its Governing Council. The appointees are Dr. MP Sood IAS (Retd.) and Dr. Rajan Kotru, a senior international research and sustainability expert.
With over 35 years of experience spanning South Asia, Europe, India, and the USA in Forestry and Sustainable Development, Dr. Kotru has had stints in organizations like NITI Aayog, the German Alpine Foundation, and ICIMOD.
His advisory work for NGOs in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh underscores his commitment to on-ground sustainable practices.
Bringing vast knowledge in governance issues at grassroots levels across Himachal region, Dr. Sood's 15-year association with IMI showcases his working to the organization's principles.
In April 2023, an IMI delegation met with the Chief Minister to strengthen the partnership between IMI and the Himachal Government.
IMI seeks to focus on leveraging traditional community wisdom to formulate a collective agenda for disaster mitigation and combatting climate change challenges.
