Shimla, Sept 8: The Himachal Pradesh High Court has ordered the state government to release pension to Jagat Ram, a retired Class-IV worker, whose claim was rejected despite clear Supreme Court rulings.

Justice Sandeep Sharma held that Jagat Ram’s 10+ years of daily wage and seven years of regular service must be counted as 10 years of qualifying service under the Sunder Singh and Balo Devi judgments, making him eligible for pension.

The court brushed aside the government’s plea of delay, saying a Class-IV employee cannot be denied benefits on technicalities.

It pulled up the state for failing to implement its own 2019 order to follow the Supreme Court ruling.

The government has been directed to release pension and arrears within four weeks.
