Jai Ram Thakur Demands CBI Probe into Vimal Negi’s Mysterious Death - Alleges HPPCL’s Pressure Forced Him to End Life
Shimla, March 19:
Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur today came down heavily on the Congress government, demanding a CBI probe into the death of Vimal Negi, whose body was recovered from the Bhakhra Dam near Swarghat on Tuesday.
Speaking to media at the Vidhan Sabha, Jai Ram Thakur alleged that this was not a normal death but a clear case of "pressure tactics" in Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (HPPCL) that forced Vimal to take this extreme step.
"I have said this earlier and I am repeating — this case needs a serious, high-level probe. There is enough evidence that officers were pressurizing employees beyond limits. Work was being forced till late at night, even till 2:00 am for wrong reason. Vimal’s wife has openly said that he was under unbearable pressure," Jai Ram Thakur said.
👉 Why is the CBI probe necessary?
- HPPCL facing serious controversies for the last two years
- Top officials named in pressure and harassment complaints
- Employees forced to work beyond midnight
- Anonymous letters in media alleging wrongdoings
- Vimal Negi’s wife blames system’s pressure
"This is not just a suicide, it’s a murder by the system. If the family comes forward, I assure them, we will not sit silent until a CBI probe is ordered," Thakur added.
🔥 Raises serious concerns on Law & Order
Jai Ram Thakur also slammed the government over deteriorating law and order.
"Yesterday, an HRTC bus was attacked and looted. Himachalis are not safe in Punjab. Posters of Bhindranwale and Khalistan slogans are popping up. What is this government doing?"
"The CM must talk to Punjab’s Chief Minister and ensure peace. Himachalis should not fear going to Delhi, Chandigarh or Punjab. But if our people are attacked, cattle snatched, this is unacceptable."
Thakur warned that even Punjab youth coming to Himachal are trying to spoil the peace here.
"Law is law, no one should be allowed to break it," he said.
