The fifth day of Sharadiya Navratri is dedicated to the worship of Maa Skandamata, the fifth manifestation of Goddess Durga and the divine mother of Lord Kartikeya, also known as Skanda. Devotees worship the goddess in a serene form, seeking peace, prosperity, happiness and the well-being of their families.

Maa Skandamata is traditionally depicted seated on a lion, holding lotus flowers in her hands and carrying child Skanda in her lap. Her four-armed form symbolises maternal love, courage, compassion and divine protection.

The goddess is associated with purity, tranquillity and harmony. The lotus in her hands represents spiritual purity, while her nurturing form reflects the unconditional love of a mother. Devotees believe that worshipping Maa Skandamata brings peace and strengthens their faith and devotion.

Bananas are traditionally offered to the goddess as *bhog* on the fifth day of Navratri. Devotees perform prayers and rituals, seeking her blessings for family welfare, prosperity and spiritual growth.

The day is marked by prayers and devotional observances dedicated to the mother goddess, whose blessings are believed to bring harmony and happiness into the lives of her devotees.
