BILASPUR: As many as 35 individuals from Himachal Pradesh and different parts of the country will be honoured for their contribution in diverse fields at the Indian Excellence Award 2026, to be organised in Bilaspur in the third week of September.
The award ceremony will be jointly organised by the Himachal Rainbow Star Club, Ladli Foundation, Himalaya Vikas Sewa Sanstha, Sarvadharm Samabhav Rashtriya Manch and Govind Sagar Adventure and Water Sports Association.
A meeting of representatives of the participating organisations was held at the Bilaspur district headquarters to discuss the proposed award ceremony as well as developmental issues concerning the district.
Himachal Rainbow Star Club founder and National Youth Award winner from the Government of India, Ishan Akhtar, attended the meeting.
The organisers said the Indian Excellence Award 2026 would recognise individuals who have made exceptional contributions to social service, sports, science, healthcare, education, art and culture, tourism, literature, police services, journalism, promotion of communal harmony and other fields.
The organisers also plan to invite the Himachal Pradesh Governor, Chief Minister, Cabinet ministers, MLAs and other prominent public representatives to the award ceremony.
Ishan Akhtar, Ladli Foundation district president Anita Sharma and Sarvadharm Samabhav Rashtriya Manch national president Pandit Satyadev Sharma said the awards were aimed at recognising people whose work had made a meaningful contribution to society and inspired others.
A five-member jury committee has been constituted unanimously to select the awardees. The committee comprises Er. Shyam Lal Panwar, state president of Sarvadharm Samabhav Rashtriya Manch; Shalu Akhtar, state president of Ladli Foundation; Diksha Sharma, state vice-president of Himalaya Vikas Sewa Sanstha; and Himachal Rainbow Star Club members Shalini Sharma and Rekha Bisht.
The organisers said the initiative would provide a platform to acknowledge excellence beyond conventional fields and highlight individuals whose contributions often remain away from the spotlight.
Narmada Sharma, Rupinder Kaur, Lata Thakur, Kalpana Thakur and Munish were also present at the meeting.
