According to ED  Gupta is a key figure in the Agusta Westland VVIP Chopper Scam case that has been reverberating through the political corridors for the last 15 years.

The properties under scrutiny include prime land and luxurious farmhouses nestled in a prestigious area  of Delhi, with an estimated value pegged at a whopping Rs. 16.57 Crore.

This latest move injects yet another dose of high drama into the already charged political arena, pinning dwon the Congress, promising to amplify tensions and intensify scrutiny as the elections draw near.

Back in February 2010, during the tenure of the UPA government led by Dr. Manmohan Singh, contract was inked with Augusta Westland purchase 10 Augusta AW101 Choppers. 

This contract aimed to procure choppers dedicated to ferrying VVIPs, such as the President of India and the Prime Minister.

The deal, valued at a staggering Rs. 3600 Crores and was allegedly fraught with kickbacks and BJP has been pinning the Congress in this scam. 

It was alleged that several top officials including bureaucrats, politicians and middlemen were involved in the scam who pushed through the deal with the Italian company.

The IAF chief airmarshal Tyagi inckding two foreign middlemen were arrested  by the CBI subsequently in the scam.

But no politician was arrested so far in this scam.
