Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced the momentous news today, following the 108th Technical Committee meeting of the CZA in June, 2023.

The approval comes after extensive evaluation and collaborative efforts by the State Government, wildlife experts, and conservationists to ensure the proposed zoo adheres to the highest standards of animal welfare, safety, and environmental sustainability.

CM Sukhu said zoo is expected to be a major boost to tourism in the region, creating numerous employment opportunities and contributing significantly to the state's socio-economic development.

It will serve as a premier facility, housing a diverse array of animal species native to Himachal Pradesh and the nearby regions, said CM.

"The establishment of this world-class zoo marks a milestone in our vision to attract visitors and make Kangra the State's 'Tourism Capital'," stated Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Rajiv Kumar.

The Wildlife wing of the HP Forest Department will diligently work towards fulfilling all necessary conditions outlined by the Central Zoo Authority.

The zoo's operations will strictly comply with the highest ethical and conservation standards, aiming to raise awareness about wildlife preservation and the importance of protecting natural habitats through various exhibits and interactive programs.
