Deputy Commissioner Shimla Aditya Negi and other citizens took the occasion to laud her remarkable contribution to the country and lauded her key role in the establishment of Himachal Pradesh in 1971.
He called upon the young generation to take inspiration from his life so that they can contribute in nation building.

Her Birth anniversary is also remembered as Rashtriya Ekta Divas as well. Nehru Yuva Kendra in association with other bodies celebrated the Divas.
Congress rank and file also paid their floral tributes to Late Prime Minister remembering her tremendous contribution to the nation building and winning the two wars against Pakistan. Indira Gandhi had conferred statehood to Himachal Pradesh in 1971.
