CM Reiterates Demand for Immediate Release of ₹1,500-Crore Disaster Package at North Zonal Council Meet

Shimla/Faridabad, Nov 17 —

At the North Zonal Council meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Faridabad on Sunday, the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister once again pressed the Centre for the immediate release of the long-pending ₹1,500-crore disaster relief package. He said the funds were crucial for speeding up relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction works across the disaster-hit hill state.

The Chief Minister said he would also urge Prime Minister Narendra Modi to clear the package without further delay, stressing that Himachal has been reeling under unprecedented losses and needs timely central support.

He took up several issues concerning Himachal’s rights in various inter-state and central projects, asserting that the state would present its case with “full perseverance and clarity.”

The CM said that quick and concrete intervention from the Centre was expected on these matters.

Pointing to the unique challenges faced by Himalayan states, he called for a sensitive and sustainable national policy that recognises the ecological fragility, disaster vulnerability and developmental constraints of mountain regions.

Reaffirming his stand, the CM said the state government would “strongly put forth Himachal’s interests and rights at every platform,” and continue to seek fair treatment and rightful dues from the Centre.
