Shimla, April 18: Pahari Samaj Pariyavaran Kwach has come down heavily on a viral video linked to social media influencer Ishita Pundir, calling it defamatory and an outright insult to the Indian Army, and demanding strict action against those responsible.
Taking a firm stand, PSPK—Pahari Samaj Pariyavaran Kwach, an NGO known for its sustained work on ecological and environmental issues in Himachal Pradesh—has strongly condemned the content and sought strict action against those responsible.
Leading the charge, PSPK CEO Atul Kaushik, a retired Major General, underlined that the issue strikes at the very core of national respect. He also carries a strong administrative track record, having set a precedent as Chairperson of the Himachal Pradesh Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Commission, where he acted against erring institutions and enforced accountability.
“Indian Army personnel serve the nation in the harshest terrains and conditions. Questioning their character or ridiculing their sacrifices is unacceptable,” Kaushik said, reflecting the anger brewing among citizens.
PSPK member Raveena Chauhan said the incident has exposed a worrying trend where sections of youth are drifting away from meaningful public discourse.
“Instead of focusing on real issues like environmental degradation, corruption, women’s safety and climate change, some are chasing controversy for attention,” she said.
The NGO reiterated that soldiers continue to contribute to society even after retirement or injury, making them role models for the nation. Targeting such an institution, PSPK said, is not just irresponsible but deeply offensive.
Calling for zero tolerance, PSPK has urged the administration to initiate strict legal action to ensure such incidents are not repeated.
Official Statement:
“The Indian Army represents the strength, honour and trust of our nation. Any attempt to insult it will not be tolerated. Authorities must act firmly to uphold the dignity of our armed forces,” PSPK said.
The row has once again triggered a larger debate over social media accountability and the limits of free expression when it comes to national institutions.
