On June 1st, 2024, a gazetted holiday has been announced for the Himachal Pradesh General Election to Lok Sabha-2024 and Bye-elections to the Legislative Assembly. Additionally, a special paid holiday has been granted on the same day for registered voters of Punjab working in border areas of Una, Kangra, Chamba, and Solan Districts.

Further, special paid holidays have been declared for registered voters of Jammu & Kashmir on April 19th, 2024, for those working in border areas of Lahaul-Spiti and Chamba Districts.

Similarly, on May 25th, 2024, registered voters of Haryana in border areas of Sirmour & Solan Districts will have a special paid holiday.

On April 19th, 2024, special paid holidays have been announced for registered voters of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh working in border areas of Sirmour & Shimla Districts, and for Ladakh on May 20th, 2024.

These special paid holidays will allow government and semi-government employees, as well as industrial workers who are registered voters in the mentioned states/UT, to exercise their right to vote.

Special Casual Leave may be granted to employees working in different places within the state but eligible to vote in other constituencies, upon producing a certificate from the concerned Presiding Officer confirming their participation in the voting process.

The announcement comes in accordance with Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, issued today by joint secretary GAD  Parveen K  Taak and is aimed at facilitating maximum voter turnout during the upcoming elections.
