Shimla, April 25: With the proposed summer visit of President Droupadi Murmu to the hill capital, the Himachal Pradesh Police has swung into full action mode, rolling out an extensive security and traffic management plan that will be put to a real test in an already tourist-packed Shimla.

President would land at Kalyani helipad and would make beeline for Mashobra Retreat. But her detailed schedule is yet be be released officially.

At a high-level security briefing held at Police Headquarters, Director General of Police Ashok Tiwari has appealed to the cops that there would be no room for error. Stressing “zero negligence,” he called for peak professionalism, sharp vigilance, and absolute integrity from every officer deployed on duty.

Senior officers, including the Shimla Superintendent of Police and the Deputy Inspector General (Southern Range), laid down detailed operational guidelines.

The focus: seamless coordination, real-time communication, and strict adherence to all Standard Operating Procedures.

Officers were also told to maintain a people-friendly approach while handling citizens and tourists during the high-security movement.

The police leadership underlined that the President’s visit is not just a security challenge but also an opportunity to showcase Himachal Police’s discipline and preparedness on the national stage.

“Every personnel must lead from the front,” a senior officer said, adding that performance during the visit will be closely watched.

On the ground, however, the reality is likely to pinch residents and visitors alike. With Shimla already bursting at the seams due to peak tourist inflow, traffic diversions, route restrictions, and temporary halts are expected across key stretches of the city. Commuters should be prepared for delays as security convoys and movement protocols take precedence.

The Shimla Police has urged the public to cooperate, plan travel in advance, and follow advisories to ensure smooth conduct of the VVIP visit.

The force has reiterated its commitment to ensure that the President’s visit passes off securely, smoothly, and without any lapse—though for Shimla’s residents, it may come with a fair share of traffic snarls and long waits on the road.
