Shimla:
Tension flared in the city today when MBBS students of Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) clashed with students of Government College, Sanjauli, leaving six injured.
The scuffle broke out near the IGMC hostel, reportedly over an argument that soon turned violent. The injured students were rushed to the IGMC emergency ward where they are undergoing treatment.
Police teams from the Lakkar Bazaar station reached the spot immediately and dispersed the warring groups before the situation could spiral further.
Statements of the injured students have been recorded, though the exact cause of the clash is yet to be ascertained.
Senior police officials said an inquiry has been initiated to determine what triggered the fight and to identify those responsible.
Residents expressed concern over the growing incidents of campus violence in the city, urging both college administrations to take preventive steps to maintain peace.
