Himachal Pradesh Police say they traced out 635 missing persons during the recent special campaign while efforts are on to trace out remaining 1416 persons.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has appreciated the efforts made by HP Police to trace out missing persons and congratulated Director General of Police Sanjay Kundu and his team.
According to Police, Himachal Pradesh has 18,577 missing persons since 2010 till September 30, 2021. Out of these, 17,059 persons have so far been traced out and the remaining 1416 persons remain still missing.
The police spokesperson say overall percentage of traced persons in HP is 91.83 percent, which is quite satisfactory. They also counselled the traced out persons and their family members after analysing the reasons.
He said a missing person is someone who has disappeared and whose status as alive or dead cannot be confirmed as their location and fate are unknown.
There are cases when a person may go missing through voluntary disappearance, or else due to an accident, crime, death in a location where they cannot be found, or various other reasons. These persons are generally reported as missing persons to the police, the spokesperson explained
