In a vibrant celebration of creativity and environmental awareness, the International Roerich Memorial Trust in Naggar organized a painting competition on Tuesday, drawing enthusiastic participation from young students across the region.
The event, spearheaded by Seema Sonawane and Mahesh Tashi, was inaugurated by Nakul Khullar, an award-winning director associated with Baragad Resorts & Spa and AU TV. Addressing the gathering, Khullar underscored the importance of nurturing creativity among children while promoting awareness about pressing environmental and social issues.
The theme of the competition, “Save Nature, Save Future,” resonated strongly with participants. Around 35 students, aged between 6 and 13 years, from schools including Prussian Public School Naggar and Durga Public School, showcased their artistic skills through colorful and thought-provoking paintings.
The competition was judged by a panel comprising Dadul Chalit, Meenakshi Vashishtha, and Rajnandini Reh. The event also saw the presence of social media personalities and local influencers, adding to the excitement among participants.
In the results, Jaitun Palam secured the first position in the 6–10 age category, followed by Khushi in second place and Hejal in third. In the 11 years and above category, Basti clinched the top spot, while Meghali and Risham secured second and third positions respectively.
While distributing prizes, Khullar urged students to stay away from substance abuse and act as ambassadors of awareness within their peer groups. “The youth must lead the way in building a healthier and more conscious society,” he said.
Adding a cultural touch to the occasion, YouTuber Pallavi Thakur encouraged children to embrace local traditions and language while also advocating for environmental conservation.
The event also featured an exhibition of nature-inspired artworks by renowned local artist Shekhar Kumar, which drew admiration from visitors and tourists alike.
The organizers expressed gratitude to all participants, judges, and attendees for making the event a success, emphasizing that such initiatives play a crucial role in shaping responsible and creative future citizens.
