Chamba/Shimla: Six people lost their lives while four others were injured after an Innova car met with a horrific accident near Kakira on the Lahru-Tunnuhatti road in Chamba district on Monday.

According to reports, the vehicle carrying tourists from Gujarat skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge in the Bhattiyat area during the early hours.

The accident triggered panic in the region as local residents, police and rescue teams rushed to the spot to pull out the victims from the mangled vehicle.

The injured were immediately shifted to local  hospital, where some of them are stated to be in critical condition. Authorities said the victims were travelling towards Dalhousie when the mishap took place.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed deep grief over the tragedy. He directed the district administration to extend all possible help to the affected families and ensure proper medical treatment for the injured.
