Shimla, June 2: State-run power major SJVN Limited on Tuesday organized a tree plantation drive at Chamiyana in Shimla under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign to mark World Environment Day and promote environmental conservation.
The drive was held under the leadership of CMD Bhupender Gupta in collaboration with the Himachal Pradesh State Forest Department. Director (Personnel) Ajay Kumar Sharma, Chief Vigilance Officer Pankaj Porwal and Lakhwinder Singh participated in the plantation programme.
A total of 150 saplings, including Deodar, Oak, Walnut and Pomegranate, were planted during the campaign. Sharma said the initiative reflected a collective commitment towards environmental protection and would help generate greater awareness and public participation in conservation efforts.
Officials of the 133 Infantry Battalion (TA) Eco Dogra, the Forest Department, and senior officers and employees of SJVN's corporate headquarters in Shimla took part in the drive, which the company described as a step towards building a greener and more sustainable future.
