SHIMLA: The special 100th edition of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat' program here turned out be a "Raj Ki Baat" in the heat of the Shimla Municipal Corporation elections, the campaigning for which comes to an end today.

Congress leaders including Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh and others abstained and coldshouldered the special screening of the 100th edition of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat' program here. 

CM addressed over 8 corner meetings  in different wards to keep off public from Man Ki Baat.

Chief Minister and Congress leaders addressed election meetings in different wards in the capital city of Shimla to make a final cut to capture SMC body from the BJP.

Congress enjoys advantage over BJP "just being in power in Himachal".    

On the other, the state governor Shiv Pratap Shukla took up Man Ki Baat as a mission to spread its broadcasting among people.

Leader of the Opposition in Vidhan Sabha, Jai Ram Thakur and BJP Chief Dr Rajiv Bindal used ‘Mani Ki Baat’  as a political platform to woo voters to the Modi’s Magic at the end of the campaigning for the Shimla Municipal Corporation elections.

They listened to the programme in public in wards with BJP candidates and workers.  

At the end of the programme, Shukla appealed all people to cooperate as the subjects mentioned in Man ki Baat were related to public concern”.

Governor addressed people at the Man Ki Baat programme organized at Raj Bhavan.

At Raj Bhawan Mani ki Baat was organized through the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Prasar Bharati.

Earlier, Union Minister IB and Sports and Youth Affairs minister Anurag Singh Thakur had Sada Rajmah Chawal at a dhaba in Summerhill, the seat of HP university to have a connect with young people during campaigning for BJP candidates in the city.    

Shiv Pratap Shukla was present as the chief guest on the occasion.

Other dignitaries include Padma Shri awardees Vidyanand Saraik and Nek Ram Sharma, winners of various awards at the national level and persons from the State who were mentioned by the Prime Minister in the program 'Mann Ki Baat' in different episodes were also present on the occasion.

Governor in his address said it was a program of social dialogue with an objective to create such a social asset, which could result in a positive change in the society.

This program aims at projecting people, who have done inspirational work in the society, as social heroes so that others get inspired by them, he added.

He said there were several topics in 'Mann Ki Baat' which were directly related to public concerns.

He said while people mentioned in Man Ki Baat have become an inspiration for the countrymen, it was also a matter of pride for the State.

These include Solan-based ‘Manav Bharti’ Sanstha and its associates including Urmila Baldi, Sanjana and Vipul Goyal, Ashish Behl, a teacher from Bhatiyat in  Chamba, a primary teacher Ram Kumar Joshi from Bhatoli village of Una district, Jagdish Chand from Hamirpur etc.

The Governor spoke about drug de-addiction, Pradhan Mantri T.B. Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, natural farming and millet cultivation and appealed to the people to contribute towards these issues.

He said that these subjects were related to public concern in which every person needs to cooperate.

On this occasion, a 'Discussion Session' was also organized in which D.K. Chaudhary, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Crime) and Dr. Nidhi, a drug addiction specialist from Indira Gandhi Medical College Shimla gave a presentation on drug abuse.

Dr. Gopal Beri, Director, Health Services gave a presentation on Tuberculosis eradication.

Raghubir Singh, Joint Director, Agriculture Department detailed about Millets and Mahendra Bhawani, Deputy Director, Agriculture gave a presentation on Natural Farming.

Padma Shri Nek Ram Sharma, who is known as Milletman of India also expressed his views.

The national award winners and those people from Himachal who were mentioned in different editions of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program, social influencer and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.

Rajesh Sharma, Secretary to the Governor, senior officers of the State government, officers from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Prasar Bharti, Government of India were present at the programme.
