SHIMLA: The ruling Congress has staged a Landslide comeback in the Shimla Municipal Corporation elections as it won 24 seats out of 34 seats by defeating BJP which won 9 seats.
BJP won 9 seats while one seat has gone to the CPM.
Congress Surender Chauhan(Guddu), who is also a Mayor candidate, has won Chota Shimla seat.
Congress Sheenam Kataria, daughter of former Mayor Narendra Kataraia won Benmore ward.
Congress Ankush Verma won Engine Ghar, Atul Gautam won Jhakhu, Umang Banga won Lower Bazar, Kalyan Chand Dhiman Phagli, Narender Thakur Bhatta Kufar.
Former Mayor Satya Kaundal (Sanjauli Chowk) lost the election to new comer Mamta Chandel of Congress.
BJP Kamlesh Mehta won Upper Dhalli, while Vishakha Modi won Lower Dhalli.
Congress Simi Nanda won from Nabha ward, Kanta Suyal(Kaithu), Sushma Kuthiala(Ram Bazar). Kiran Sharma(Kachhighatti), Anita Sharma Majjhat, Kiran sharma(Kachhightai). Monika Bhardwaj wion Tutu ward.
BJP candidates Meena Chauhan (Bharari), Bittu Panna( Krishna Nagar), Saroj Thakur have won the seats.
Virender Thakur won Summer Hill ward, Urmila Kashyap won Annandale, Uma won Tutikandi.
The counting in other wards are on.
In the last SMC tenure, BJP had won 17, Congress had 12 seats while four seats had gone to independents and one seat was with CPM.
