Shimla - In a scathing rebuke to the deteriorating law and order situation in Himachal Pradesh, BJP's Media Coordinator Karan Nanda has slammed the state administration following a murder incident on Shimla's iconic Mall Road. Nanda lamented the harrowing ordeal that unfolded outside a restaurant at 2 a.m., leaving the public in a state of shock and insecurity.
"The brutal murder of a 21-year-old youth has rocked the foundation of our state, highlighting the dismal state of law and order under the Congress regime," Nanda alleged questioning the efficacy of the ruling party's governance.
Notably, this restaurant was the same location where a recent cylinder blast occurred, yet authorities failed to take appropriate action, resulting in loss of lives on both occasions.
Demanding a high-level inquiry into the recent tragedy, Nanda asserted, "How can a government ensure the safety of its citizens when even elected representatives of the ruling party are not safe?"
He referenced the recent death threats received by senior Congress leader Sudhir Sharma, representing Dharamshala constituency, further underscoring the pervasive atmosphere of fear and lawlessness.
Highlighting the alarming state of affairs, Nanda emphasized, "Despite hosting a legislative assembly session in Shimla and fortifying the city with security measures, the occurrence of a murder on Mall Road raises serious questions on the competence of the administration."
He accused the government of selectively utilizing its powers, citing a recent incident where strict action was taken against a bus in Kangra district while turning a blind eye to crucial security lapses.
In a resounding call to action, Nanda urged the government and administration to swiftly restore order and instill confidence among the populace.
"We hope that the authorities will awaken from their slumber and prioritize the safety and well-being of the people," he stated.
