Shimla: Jai Ram Thakur, the leader of opposition, made a bold assertion today before entering the Vidhan Sabha for the Assembly session. Thakur claimed that the Sukhu government is teetering on the edge and has lost its mandate to govern.
Responding to the media queries, Thakur said the BJP MLAs have raised concerns over the treatment of MLAs who tried to meet Speaker and the alleged use of marshals to stifle dissent.
Thakur emphasized the recent victory of BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan in the Rajya Sabha elections and questioned the legitimacy of the current Congress government's hold on power.
He expressed apprehension over potential moves by the government to suspend MLAs and pass the budget without due process.
Thakur also raised issues regarding anti-defection laws and alleged harassment of MLAs, suggesting a crisis within the Congress government due to its own actions.
He hinted at support from MLAs outside the BJP and emphasized the importance of discussing the budget division during the Assembly session.
Thakur called into question the stability of the Sukhu government amidst mounting challenges.
