Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, has slammed BJP leaders for allegedly obstructing financial aid to the state during a time of crisis.
In a scathing statement, Sukhu accused BJP leaders of politicizing the plight of disaster-affected families instead of extending genuine assistance.
Highlighting the state's resilience in the face of natural calamities, Sukhu revealed that over 25 thousand families were resettled without aid from the Central Government following unprecedented floods and landslides last year.
Despite limited economic resources, the state government allocated a substantial relief package of Rs 4500 crore to aid affected families.
Sukhu lamented the lack of support from the Central Government during the crisis, noting that no special economic package was provided for relief and rehabilitation efforts.
He criticized BJP leaders for their alleged efforts to impede financial assistance from the Central Government, citing instances where BJP MLAs opposed resolutions to declare the disaster a national calamity.
The Chief Minister emphasized the state government's commitment to aiding affected families, citing increases in assistance amounts for reconstruction and provisions of monthly rent, free ration, gas connections, and other essentials.
He underscored the government's dedication to public service, labeling it as the primary objective of the present administration.
Sukhu's remarks serve as a scathing indictment of BJP leaders, portraying them as obstructive and indifferent to the plight of disaster victims, while showcasing the state government's proactive approach towards providing relief and support to affected communities.
