BJP's Gobind Singh Thakur Files Nomination from Mandi; Congress's Ashish Butail from Kangra Among Others.....
SHIMLA: AS the deadline for filing nominations drew to a close, the political landscape in Himachal Pradesh witnessed a flurry of activity with a total of 84 nominations filed for both parliamentary and assembly elections.
Gobind Singh Thakur, representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), submitted his nomination papers from the Mandi Parliamentary Constituency. Thakur, son of Kunj Lal Thakur hailing from VPO: Chhiyal, (Manali), as a covering candidate of Kangana Ranaut, also from the BJP, marking a notable presence in the Mandi PC race.
Meanwhile, the Congress party made its mark as well, with Ashish Butail filing his nomination papers from Kangra Parliamentary Constituency. Butail, son of Brij Bihari Lal Butail, is a covering candidate of Anand Sharma in the Lok Sabha.
Other notable candidates who threw their hats into the ring include Sudhir Sharma of the BJP, who filed his papers for the Dharamshala assembly by-polls, and Devinder Singh from the Indian National Congress (INC), contesting from the same constituency.
From Gagret Assembly Constituency, BJP Chaitanya Sharma and Amit Vashisht joined the fray as independent candidate, signaling a vibrant electoral contest in the region.
In all 84 candidates have filed papers in Himachal Pradesh.
