BJP Vice President Lodges Complaint Against Himachal Pradesh Speaker for Alleged Violations of Model Code of Conduct..

SHIMLA:  BJP MLA and Vice President, Hans Raj, has filed a complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI) against the  Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Kuldeep Singh Pathania.

The complaint alleges violations of the Model Code of Conduct by the ruling government and its agencies.

He charged Pathania was observed participating in public meetings and sharing the political platform with Congress Party leaders, including Vikramaditya Singh, a Congress candidate from the Mandi Parliamentary Constituency, and Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu.

The complaint underscores the uniqueness of this situation in Indian politics, as it alleges that the Hon’ble Speaker openly campaigned in favor of a specific candidate, thereby purportedly misusing the constitutional post and official machinery in support of the Congress candidate.

According to Raj, such actions compromise the dignity and impartiality expected from the Speaker's position, potentially influencing voters in the Mandi Parliamentary Constituency.

Raj's complaint further contends that Speaker Pathania's actions indicate a biased attitude and potential conflict of interest, suggesting a desire to hold future positions of profit.

The lack of impartiality and detachment, as expected from the Speaker, is highlighted as a cause for concern.

In light of these allegations, Raj urges the Election Commission to take appropriate legal action against Speaker Pathania in the interest of justice and fair play.
