Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said as many as 36 accused have been arrested in connection with the Sundernagar liquor tragedy case and they were still in jail as none of them have got bail so.
Chief Minister was replying to the questions raised by the Leader of Opposition Mukesh Agnihotri and CPIM MLA that took the floor of the House by storm after heated debate on the recent two tragedies- Sundarnagar liquor incident and Una Firecracker blast that killed seven and six persons respectively.
Chief Minister informed the House that the government would not spare those involved in any illegal activity even if they have connection with the ruling party or other. He said that the probe would be complete in week time in connection with the Una firecracker blast that it killed 6 women while 10 were injured seriously who were under treatment at PGI. When the probe would be compete, the Minister concerned would give the statement in the House in this connection, he said.
He said those responsible would not be spared. The police was traying to nab the absconding owner of the fire cracker factory and case has been registered under 337-304 A of IPC and section 3C of Explosive Act and SIT under IG northern ranger Sumedha Diwedi is investigating the case.
Talking about the progress of case Thakur said the firecracker factory was running in the name of Noratech Engineers Ludhiana illegally. Police have arrested manager of the factory Deepak Rana and have seized huge quantity of fire crackers, gunpowder and packing material in raids at two places of accused.
Chief Minister rebutted the leader of opposition who had charged that the government was protecting the people involved in the crime, saying that the opposition leader was trying to divert the attention of the house by blaming the government. “BJP has never given production to such elements which were involved in such crime and supported them at all”.
Thakur claimed the government is taking action against the perpetrators of crime regardless of their political affiliations because lot of people have lost their life in such incidents. The police have arrested a NSUI leader in connection with Sundernagar liquor tragedy, but it doesn’t mean that he would get the special treatment, he said.
Industry Minister Bikram Singh said the license was issued in the name of Novatech factory but it was not supplied with power and water connections. The firm did not run the factory after taking permission under section 118. He novatech was registered with industry department when the leader of the opposition, Mukesh Agnihotri weas industry minister, he said.
