SHIMLA: BJP State President Dr Rajeev Bindal charged that the Congress party's rise to power was built on promises that ultimately proved false, leaving Himachal's people disillusioned as the present Sukhu Government has failed to deliver on this front.
In a statement here today Dr Bindal claimed under Congress rule, inflation surged as diesel prices were hiked twice — first by 3 rupees and then by 3.5 rupees. These increases in diesel costs directly led to higher transportation expenses, driving up inflation.
BJP said the public distribution system (PDS) saw essential pulse prices rise due to government approval, affecting 19.5 lakh families. This aggravated the financial challenges these families faced during the already difficult times.
BJP strongly demanded a rollback of the rising diesel and pulse prices. Drawing a contrast, Bindal highlighted the PM Narender Modi-led central government's decision to reduce domestic gas cylinder prices, providing relief of Rs 200 for the public and Rs 400 for Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries.
Bindal reminded that the Congress had promised women in the state Rs 1500 per month during elections. However, as time passed, this commitment turned into a debt of Rs 13500 owed by the government to the state's women, he claimed.
