The protest March was led by the Congress co-incharge Himachal Sanjay Dutt, leader of the opposition in the Vidhan Sabha Mukesh Agnihotri, Chairman of the campaign committee Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, working president, Harsh Mahajan, chairperson of Manifesto committee, Dr Dhani Ram Shandil, MLAs Vikramaditya Singh, Harshvardhan Chauhan, Rohit Thakur, Anirudh Singh, Lakhpal, former mayor Adarsh Sood, deputy mayor Harish Janartha, former coucillors and other Congress leaders and workers.
State president and Mandi Lok Sabha MP Pratibha Singh joined protest in New Delhi against the ED for summing Sonia Gandhi in connection with National Herald case. She along with other Congress leaders were later arrested and put in Birla Mandir Police station there.
Shouting slogans in support of Sonia Gandhi and against the central government, Congress leaders charge that Modi comment was out to launch the vendetta politics against the political opponents.
Sanjay Dutt condemned the BJP government action charging that the government was missing the ED maliciously targeting INC President and supreme leader of Congress, Sonia Gandhi in a baseless and fabricated case.
Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said the Modi government at the Center was misusing the investigating agencies against Gandhi family to divert public attention from the burning issues that plagues the country.
Leader of the opposition Agnihotri said the BJP government action was against all democratic norms and values as it was targeting Congress leaders in false case.
The Congress warned they will continue to protest against vendetta politics of the BJP and its anti-farmers anti-workers policies and its failure to control the rising inflation and unemployment in the state and the country.
SHIMLA: BJP State chief Spokesperson Randhir Sharma claimed that the Congress protest is aimed at misguiding general public.
In reaction to the Congress protest in support of Congress President, Sharma alleged that idiom of "chor machaye shor" fits perfectly on the congress leaders.
“If there is no corruption done by Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi then why are they trying to run from the interrogation”, he charged.
The National herald case was started during the congress government and to say that BJP is working with a revengeful attitude is baseless, he claimed.
Sharma said Congress is wrongly blaming enforcement directorate, an independent organisation constituted to keep a check on the corruption.
He charged that Sonia Gandhi is being interrogated by the ED and Congress party is holding Satyagraha in protest against this.
This is not a satyagraha, it is a blasphemy against the laws of the country and the country's institutions, he claimed.
All Chief Ministers of Congress are sitting in Delhi. All their MPs are demoralising the ED and other organizations in their support, leaving the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, he said.
