CM Sukhu Slams BJP for Blocking Women's Pension, Promises Immediate Action..
DHARAMSHALA:: Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, during his robust campaign in Jwali, Indora, and Nurpur, didn't hold back against the BJP.
He accused them of creating obstacles to stop the Rs 1500 women's pension scheme, alleging that pressure from Delhi and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur is aimed at blocking the much-needed aid.
"Every day, the BJP finds a new way to stop this pension. They've been pestering the Election Commission to halt it. But we fought back, and now women are filling the forms.
If the BJP backs off and the Election Commission gives the green light, we'll transfer Rs 1500 within 24 hours.
If not, we'll give Rs 3000 in June," Sukhu declared, emphasizing the Congress government's commitment to women's empowerment.
Sukhu didn't stop there. He blasted the BJP for neglecting Himachal's finances and for failing to support the state during disaster recovery.
"Jairam Thakur and his BJP cronies looted the state for five years. They slept on the job and now they're trying to block Rs 9000 crore of NPS funds in Delhi.
Meanwhile, we've increased MNREGA wages, provided free treatment for seniors, and improved support prices for milk," he said, painting a stark contrast between the two parties.
Highlighting Congress' achievements, Sukhu said, "We've given old pension to 1.36 lakh government employees right in our first cabinet meeting.
We've filled 22,000 government posts in just a few months, while the BJP barely managed 20,000 in five years. We've settled one lakh Intaqal and eight thousand partition cases, providing relief to countless families."
Congress candidate Anand Sharma also took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, rebutting claims about funding for disaster damage and other developmental work.
"Modi can boast all he wants, but the reality is different. When I was a Rajya Sabha member, I secured Rs 150 crore for the industrial area in Kandrodi, opened a passport office in Shimla, and brought NIFT to Kangra.
Where was the BJP then?" Sharma questioned, asserting his deep ties and contributions to Himachal.
Sukhu wrapped up by calling out the BJP's alleged attempts to buy Congress MLAs.
"The BJP has tried to topple our government with money. They've bought six of our MLAs, but democracy's true power lies with the people.
On June 1, voters will show the BJP that their votes can't be bought," he said, rallying support for a strong Congress victory.
With heavyweights like Agriculture Minister Chandra Kumar and District Kangra Congress President Karna Singh Pathania backing him, Sukhu's message was clear: the Congress is fighting for the people's rights against a corrupt and obstructive BJP.
