All India Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi in Dehradun in the poll bound state of Uttarakhand said the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi who took 32 bullets for the nation was not mentioned in a function held in Delhi on the 50 years of the Vijay Divas of the 1971 Indo-Pak war which was fought out in 13 days under her abled leadership”.
Rahul Gandhi was welcomed on the stage by Uttarakhand Congress committee members including former Chief Minister Harish Rawat and others. He participated in the “ceremony of the Vijay Samaan Rally performed with enchants of mantras by the local priests, who also presented him a replica of Kedarnath during the ceremony.
Addressing the rally, Rahul Gandhi took a dig at the Central government function held in Delhi where Prime Minister Narender Modi paid tributes to the martyrs at the war memorial to remember the brave hearts and soldiers who laid down their lives in the service of nation in the 1971 war. “This showed the government is afraid of facing the truth”, he remarked.
Gandhi said it took India just 13 days to defeat Pakistan in the 1971 war whereas it took America long 20 years to defeat Afghanistan and generally wars are fought for months or 1-2 years.
Remembering the martyrs of 1971 Indo-Pak war, Rahul Gandhi said India won the war to save the idea of democracy under the abled leadership of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
Addressing the Congress Vijay Samaan rally in Dehradun today Rahul Gandhi said there was a function held in Delhi regarding the Bangladesh war, but there was no mention of Indira Gandhi in that function, the woman who took 32 bullets for this country, her name was not there in the invitation because this government is afraid of truth.
Rahul Gandhi said Pakistan bowed within 13 days in 1971 war, generally war is fought for six months or 1 to 2 years, but Pakistan lost the war within 13 days as India was united.
