Shimla: A surprising 'scandal"in Himachal Pradesh has erupted around a mix-up in the snacks served to CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu during a visit to the CID headquarters.
Samosas and other refreshments intended for the CM were mistakenly given to his security staff, an incident that quickly became viral of social and mass media across the nation when CID officials deemed it an "anti-government" act, prompting a formal probe.
The incident had occurred on October 21. Samosas six in number were ordered from Radisson Hotel Blue.
Leader of the Opposition, Jairam Thakur, has taken the opportunity to lash out, calling the investigation overblown and accusing the government of prioritizing "samosa politics" over real issues facing the state, such as economic and disaster management concerns.
Thakur's critique underscores the growing tussle between the state’s government and opposition, with some questioning the need for an investigation over what could be seen as a trivial mix-up.
The public has reacted with a mix of amusement and frustration, making this incident emblematic of larger political alacrity involved in this.
CID DGP latter explained that it was an internal matter of the CID and media was blowing it up out of proportion giving it a political colour.
