SHIMLA: Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today was 'upbeat' following victory of BJP in Uttarakhand, UP, Manipur, Goa, the four out of five states for which the results were declared by the Election Commission of India today. But AAP's historic landslide victory in the neighboring Punjab and recent bypolls debacle in Himachal has still put the BJP on its toes.
Thakur congratulated the BJP Central leadership, particularly Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and National BJP President Jagat Prakash Nada for the landslide victory of BJP in four States. He told media that the people have reposed faith on the BJP top leadership and government polices and programme in both in states and at the Centre.
Unfazed by the BJP recent debacle in bypolls on four seats in Himachal which were won by the Congress, BJP like in UP, UK and Manipur and Gao, would accomplish its mission repeat changing the political trend in Himachal as well this year, he said.
But Thakur cut short on queries on the landslide AAP victory in Punjab, which would have its impact in Himachal Pradesh as well. AAP is eyeing Shimla municipal elections where AAP has put banners of the party in the city. AAP has won two seats in Gao, the remote tiny state in the extreme southwest of India.
Though the real test for Jai Ram Thkaur would come in the coming Shimla Municipal corporation elections in May, but he looked seemingly 'upbeat' following the win of the BJP in neighboring Uttarakhand including UP, Manipur and Goa, where the BJP romped home back repeating the government.
Chief Minister said the massive victory in these States is a referendum of the people and its faith on the policies and programmes of the BJP Government at Centre and States. The people of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur have reposed full faith in its State Governments as well as central leadership, he added.
Thakur said that it was once again a clear message and assertion that people of the country want a strong and able leadership and they feel safe and secure in the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Jai Ram Thakur said that with the results of these States, it was now clear that the BJP would definitely ensure Mission Repeat in the State also. People of the country as well as the State have no hope from the Congress Party, as people of the five States rejected the Congress, he claimed.
Chief Minister celebrated the BJP victory with his cabinet colleagues, State BJP President and MLAs at BJP State Office Deepkamal at Chakkar, Shimla.
There is a mood of gloom in Congress in the Himalayan states with many workers not having been coming to the term with the systemic decimation of the Congress in the state assembly polls.
Meanwhile, Congress party incharge of Himachal affairs Sanjay Dutt said the party workers should not feel low as elections failures in the five states would not lower the confidence and resolve of the Congress leadership. The Congress would carry on its agenda of good work and would perform better in the coming elections, he claimed.
