Shimla, April 21: The India Meteorological Department’s Meteorological Centre Shimla on Tuesday (April 21, 2026) said Himachal Pradesh will continue to witness largely dry weather for the next two days, with a fresh western disturbance set to bring rain and thunderstorm activity across the state from April 24 onwards.

According to the weather bulletin issued at 13:00 IST on April 21, dry conditions prevailed across Himachal Pradesh between April 20 and April 21, with no rainfall, snowfall, thunderstorms or gusty winds recorded anywhere in the state. Kukumseri recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 1.2°C, while Una was the hottest with a maximum temperature of 38.4°C.

The IMD noted that both minimum and maximum temperatures are currently above normal in many parts of the state and are likely to rise further by 2–3°C over the next 3–4 days.

A fresh western disturbance is expected to affect the Western Himalayan region from April 23, triggering weather activity across districts including Chamba, Kangra, Kullu and Mandi.

Rain & Thunderstorm Forecast

April 24: Light rain/snow likely at isolated places, especially in higher reaches.

April 25: Light to moderate rain/snow expected at several locations; thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (30–40 kmph) likely in districts such as Chamba, Kangra, Kullu and Mandi.

April 26: Thunderstorm activity likely to continue at isolated places.

April 27: Isolated light rain/snow may persist in higher hills.

Strong winds (30–40 kmph) are also expected in Kinnaur and Lahaul and Spiti on April 25 and 26.
