Shimla, October 29:

The Himachal Pradesh Council for Science, Technology and Environment (HIMCOSTE), in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India, is organizing a two-day regional workshop on “Sahbhagita for Conservation and Wise Use of Wetlands” from October 30 to 31 at Hotel Holiday Home, Shimla.

The workshop will bring together representatives from the Centre, various northern states and Union Territories including Punjab, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Chandigarh, Haryana, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Knowledge partners, technical experts, and wetland managers will also participate in the event.

Dr. Suresh Chand Attri, Joint Member Secretary of HIMCOSTE, said the workshop aims to exchange innovative ideas and best practices in wetland management across the country.

“It will provide a common platform for collaboration among states, MoEF&CC, and other stakeholders to strengthen wetland conservation and management efforts,” he said.

Over the two days, participants — including Wetland Mitras, experts, and representatives from the private sector — will share their experiences and present case studies highlighting India’s journey in conserving and managing wetlands.
