SHIMLA- In a bid to enhance the quality of education in government schools, the Himachal Pradesh state government has announced plans to provide tablets to over 17,000 primary school teachers. The initiative aims to facilitate the adoption of best educational practices and improve the learning experience for students.
During a review meeting of the Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu emphasized the government's commitment to delivering quality education across all government institutions. In the initial phase, smart classroom equipment and furniture will be provided to classes 11th and 12th, along with improvements to the classroom interiors to create a conducive learning environment.
The Chief Minister directed the Education Department to identify schools with good infrastructure, internet connectivity, and student strength to ensure efficient implementation of the facility. The plan will subsequently be extended to classes 8th to 10th and then to class 7th to 1st in subsequent phases.
Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu highlighted the government's focus on improving education standards, particularly in remote areas, to ensure that students in government schools receive quality education. The current budget reflects the government's emphasis on the education sector, with plans to establish library rooms in every Senior Secondary School and provide 40,000 modern desks to government schools this year.
The tablets provided to primary school teachers will enable them to adopt the best educational practices, thereby facilitating better education for students. The government also intends to recognize high-achieving students in government educational institutions.
The review meeting was attended by Education Minister Rohit Thakur, various MLAs, officials from the IT and Innovations sector, and representatives from the Himachal Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation and the Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan.
