BJP Fields Tamil Nadu Leader Thiru CP Radhakrishnan as Vice President Candidate

In a surprise but calculated move, the BJP has fielded senior Tamil Nadu leader and current Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan as the NDA’s candidate for the Vice Presidential election.
The announcement was made by BJP national president and Union minister JP Nadda on Sunday today
Radhakrishnan, a two-time Lok Sabha MP from Coimbatore and a trusted party veteran, has been seen as the BJP’s southern face with a clean image and long organisational experience.
His elevation is also being read as the party’s fresh outreach to Tamil Nadu, where the saffron camp is trying to expand its base ahead of 2026 assembly polls.
With NDA’s numbers in both Houses, his victory looks certain, but the choice of Radhakrishnan adds a clear political message — BJP wants to send a southern leader to the second-highest constitutional post.
