Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today said the Kinnaur district has become the first district of the country to achieve the target of cent percent vaccination of second dose. Himachal Pradesh has achieved the target of cent per cent first dose vaccination against Covid-19, he said .
He initiated 31 developmental projects of about Rs. 77 crore at Reckong Peo during his one day tour to this tribal district.
Addressing the people on the Five Day long Tribal Dance and Craft Mela Chief Minister said Union Government has provided a financial assistance of Rs. 30 lakh to organize this mega event.
He said that the exhibition put up on the occasion was an apt platform for showcasing the tribal handicrafts and hand-looms. There is a need of the hour to conserve and preserve the rich culture and traditions of the state.
While paying rich tributes to former Speaker of State Vidhan Sabha late Thakur Sen Negi, Chief Minister said that late Negi was not only a great administrator and leader, but also a great champion of the tribal culture. The efforts must be made to further strengthen the museum established here. Shyam Saran Negi also hails from this area, who is the first voter of independent India, he said.
Jai Ram Thakur announced creation of one post of ADM at the district headquarter for better functioning of the administration. He announced opening of PHC at Shobrang and Veterinary dispensary at Gram Panchayat Sungra.
He also announced upgradation of CHC Bhawanagar to Civil Hospital and High School Panvi to Senior Secondary School. He said that patwar circle Kanam would be brought under Tehsil Murang from Tehsil Pooh.
Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated the Museum of late Thakur Sen Negi, former Vidhan Sabha Speaker and flagged -off two vehicles of Fire Water Tender.
Jai Ram Thakur inaugurated Rs. 1.43 crore augmentation of WSS Sapni phase-I to IV in GP Sapni in tehsil Sangla, Rs. 1.30 crore 170 feet Bailey bridge over Baspa khad on Batseri link road, Rs. 5.25 crore link road to village Shango and several other projects.
Chief Minister laid foundation stones of Rs. 83 lakh remodelling of WSS Sholbray to Phrachitang in GP Ramni in tehsil Nichar, Rs. 99 lakh WSS Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) Nichar, Rs. 11.46 crore Sewerage scheme to Nichar over a dozen other projects.
Jai Ram Thakur also performed foundation stones laying ceremonies of Rs. 2 crore Vigilance Police Station at Reckong, Rs. 1.47 crore Rajsav Sadan at Reckong Peo, Rs. 1.88 crore ware house for storage of Electronic Voting Machines at Reckong Peo and Rs. 7.22 crore stadium at Bhawanagar.
Later, the Chief Minister inaugurated two PSA 250 LPM Oxygen Plants at Regional Hospital, Reckong Peo.
Vice Chairman State Forest Corporation Surat Negi thanked the Chief Minister for dedicating and laying foundation stones of developmental projects worth crores of rupees in this tribal district.
Principal Secretary Revenue and Tribal Development Onkar Sharma said that this Mela was coinciding with the 75 years Amrit Utsav of Independence and the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India was endeavouring to preserve the rich culture of the tribal area.
He said that the tribal district of Kinnaur was known for its rich and colourful culture.
Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairman Mela Committee Abid Hussain Sadiq welcomed the Chief Minister and other dignitaries present on the occasion. He said that the main objective of organizing this tribal fair was to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the tribal area.
Former MLA Tejwant Negi, Chairman Zila Parishad Nehal, Managing Director HPMC Rajeshwar Goel and Superintendent of Police Kinnaur Ashok Rattan were present on the occasion among others.
