Protracted Farmers' protest around the Delhi borders came to end today after 378 days after the Ministry of Agriculture gave its written assurance to the Sayunkt Kisan Manch(SKM) on most of the pending demands including MSP today. The farmers' bodies have decided to end the protest and they will celebrate it as Farmers Victory Day on December 11 in the country.
According to SKM, it was a major victory of farmers' struggle and the struggle would be suspended on December 11 with Nationwide Victory Day.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare of the Government of India sent a letter to the SKM on December 9 morning, as per the draft approved by the SKM meeting yesterday. The letter was placed and approved in the SKM meeting today.
SKM stated that December 11 shall be widely celebrated as Victory Day all over the country. SKM congratulated and thanked all farmers, as well as workers, agricultural workers, employees, women, youth, students and all other sections throughout the country for this unprecedented victory after over one year of a unique struggle, said the release issued today to the media.
