Computer Teachers Welcome Govt’s Decision, Demand Priority for Govt School Experience
Shimla – The Himachal Pradesh government's decision to recruit 985 Computer Science Lecturers has been welcomed by computer teachers and IT vocational trainers, who see it as a major step towards strengthening technical education in the state.
For over a decade, these teachers have been handling both teaching and administrative computer work in government schools while struggling for regularization.
The 2016 recruitment process for 632 PGT (Information Practices) posts, which required five years of experience, was delayed due to legal hurdles.
Now, with the High Court upholding this experience condition, the Sukhu government has finally moved forward with fresh recruitment.
However, teachers are now demanding that the five-year experience clause be limited strictly to those who have worked in government schools.
They argue that extending eligibility to private institutions would be unfair to those who have dedicated years to the state education system.
The teachers’ association has urged the government to amend the recruitment criteria, ensuring priority for experienced government school teachers, just as other teaching categories have been regularized.
They believe this will do justice to their long-standing service and struggle for recognition.
