Shimla, 19 February: The Himachal Pradesh government has decided to grant full salary to MBBS doctors pursuing postgraduate studies or specialized training in India or abroad.
Earlier, doctors on study leave received only 40 percent of their salary, which discouraged many from opting for higher education.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s government aims to strengthen healthcare by encouraging specialization. Doctors pursuing higher studies would now get financial support while continuing their education. This step is expected to improve medical expertise in the state.
Once these doctors complete their studies, they will serve in government hospitals. The move will help upgrade medical services and ensure better healthcare for the people of Himachal Pradesh.
The government has also invested in modern medical equipment to reduce the need for patients to seek treatment outside the state.
Super-specialist doctors and MDs will play a key role in improving patient care. The government is committed to making quality healthcare more accessible across the state.
