SJVNSinAgreement on solar projects

SHIMLA: SJVN, through its subsidiary SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), has signed agreements for solar power projects in Rajasthan and Assam.

In Rajasthan, SGEL inked a Power Usage Agreement (PUA) and a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Rajasthan Urja Vikas and IT Services Limited (RUVITL) for a total of 600 MW solar power.

The agreements were signed in the presence of Hon'ble Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Sh. Bhajan Lal Sharma, and other dignitaries.

Under the agreements, SGEL will supply 500 MW from the Bikaner Solar Power Project and 100 MW from the Rajasthan Solar Power Project.

The Bikaner project, expected to commission by September 30, 2024, will be the country's largest single-location solar project, reducing carbon emissions by 27,67,219 tonnes.

The Rajasthan Solar Power Project is anticipated to contribute significantly to the state's renewable energy goals.

In Assam, SJVN marked its presence with the Bhumi Pujan ceremony of a 50 MW solar project in Sonitpur, Assam. Hon'ble Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.

This project is part of SJVN's commitment to developing three solar projects totaling 320 MW in Assam. The 50 MW project, to be developed in Village Sitalmari, Barsola Block, is expected to generate 101 million units of green energy in its first year and contribute to reducing carbon emissions by 1,13,653 tonnes.

Smt. Geeta Kapur, Chairman & Managing Director of SJVN, highlighted the company's dedication to expanding its renewable energy portfolio and contributing to the nation's goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions.
