UNA: Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu will lead Himachal Pradesh’s fifth Anti-Chitta and Environment Awareness Walkathon at Una on September 7, as the state police step up their public campaign against drug abuse.
The walkathon will start at 7 am from Indira Stadium, bringing together police personnel, students, youth and citizens in a collective show of resolve against the spread of Chitta.
The initiative follows similar awareness walks held in Shimla, Dharamshala, Hamirpur and Bilaspur, with Una chosen as the latest venue to widen public participation in the anti-drug campaign.
The police said the focus will be on preventing young people from falling into addiction and encouraging families, educational institutions and community organisations to take an active role in the fight against drugs.
Environmental protection will form the second theme of the campaign, linking a healthy society with a clean and sustainable environment.
The Himachal Pradesh Police Orchestra will perform during the event, while refreshments will be provided to participants.
The police have urged residents of Una and adjoining areas, particularly students, youth, parents and teachers, to join the walkathon in large numbers.
The message from Una on September 7: “Choose life, not Chitta.”
