SHIMLA, JULY 15: The Directorate of School Education, Himachal Pradesh, has announced selection trials for admission to the newly established Thakur Ram Lal School of Sports, Jubbal, for the 2026-27 academic session.

The trials will be conducted on July 21, 2026, from 9:00 am at the TRL School of Sports, Jubbal, Shimla district.

According to an official notification issued by the Directorate, the selection drive is meant for girl students seeking admission to the residential sports school. Trials will be held in Judo, Taekwondo, Chess and Table Tennis.

Eligible candidates must be regular students of government or recognised schools and fall within the 13-18 years age group.

However, girls aged 12 years who meet the selection criteria approved by the government on April 30 and July 10, 2026, will also be considered for admission.

The department said admissions will be made strictly on merit. Preference will be given to candidates demonstrating superior physique, speed, endurance and agility.

National Sub-Junior and Junior School-level winners, runners-up and third-place finishers will also receive preference, even if they do not fully meet the minimum selection criteria.

The Education Department will provide free coaching, training, boarding and lodging to selected players at the sports hostel.

If the selection process is not completed on the scheduled date, the trials will continue the following day.

Separate selection committees comprising principals, sports in-charges and physical education teachers have been constituted for each discipline to conduct the trials.

Santosh Chauhan, Chairperson of the Selection Committee, informed HimbuMail here today that the trials are aimed at identifying promising young sporting talent from across Himachal Pradesh and providing them with professional training facilities at the residential sports school.

He urged eligible girl students to participate in the selection process and report at the venue with the required documents well before the scheduled time.
