SHIMLA: All schools and colleges have been closed for August 23 and 24 in view of the the heavy rains that has been lashing Most parts of Himachal Pradesh since last night.
In Mandi district, the flash floods washed away two houses and a school in Kuklah area near Pandoh last night due to the cloud burst. Five people trapped in the mud slide were rescued safely.
In the capital city, a deodar tree fell on the old Royal hotel at Nabha, which was vacated and smashed its roof badly.
Three more trees are tilting and could fall anytime, said Simmi Nanda, Nabha councillor.
The old tree also fell on The Mall Road in Willow Bank, but no damage was done.
People have been advised to remain indoors in view of the the heavy rains that have resulted in the blockage of roads Shimla bypass at Kanlog and Cart road at Himland.
Chandigarh Shimla national highway also remain blocked at Chakki Morh today and NHAI has deployed machines to restore it but the rains continue to disrupt this problematic stretch.
All the roads from Shimla to upper areas including Theog- Narkanda, Theo-Chopal, Theog- Rohru, Jubbal-Kotkhai are open for traffic.
