New Delhi:The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting authorizes CBFC and I&B officers to block or take down pirated film content online.

New law passed to tackle piracy, with Nodal Officers receiving complaints and directing removal of pirated content. Original copyright holders or authorized representatives can apply.

Offenders could face 3 months to 3 years in prison and fines up to 5% of production costs.

Digital platforms must remove pirated links within 48 hours.

This aims to curb film piracy and aligns with existing copyright laws."
