PM Modi to Release Rs 20,000 Crore PM-KISAN Installment in Varanasi..
New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to disburse the 17th installment of the PM-KISAN scheme, amounting to about Rs 20,000 crore, during a visit to Varanasi on June 18, 2024. The installment will be transferred directly to over 9.26 crore farmers across the country.
In a press conference, Union Agriculture Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan highlighted that this event, organized in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh government, will also see PM Modi granting certificates to more than 30,000 self-help groups (SHGs) as Krishi Sakhis. Krishi Sakhis are women trained to support farmers with agricultural practices, aiming to boost their incomes by Rs 60,000-80,000 annually.
Shri Chouhan praised the Prime Minister's ongoing focus on agriculture, noting that PM-KISAN has provided over Rs 3.24 lakh crore to more than 11 crore farmers since its launch in 2019. The initiative offers Rs 6,000 per year to eligible farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer.
The June 18 event will be broadcast live on multiple platforms, including DD, DD Kisan, and various social media channels, reaching farmers nationwide. Union Ministers will also engage with farmers at various Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) to raise awareness about government schemes.
