CPM Slams Negligence in Joginder Nagar Development, Accuses Govt of Record Corruption
Joginder Nagar: The development has been in a perpetual slump for years, and the situation under the current Congress government is no different, alleged CPM state secretariat member and Mandi district secretary, Kushal Bhardwaj.
Speaking at a local committee meeting in Joginder Nagar, Bhardwaj accused the government of breaking all previous records of corruption while keeping crucial development projects stalled.
"Roads are in a pathetic state, drinking water supply is a disaster, and residents are being harassed with inflated water bills.
Public transport is in shambles—routes remain closed for years, and promised new buses are nowhere in sight.
Health services have collapsed. The hospital has no MD, no ENT specialists, and no sonographer for 18 years, leaving expensive equipment to rust," he charged.
Bhardwaj added that schools are facing acute teacher shortages, with remote schools shutting down, leaving poor families’ children in the lurch.
He slammed the Congress state government and BJP-led central government for being indistinguishable in their failure to address public concerns, accusing both of burdening the public, paralyzing essential services, and fostering rampant corruption.
He also accused the government of ignoring the drug menace gripping the region.
"The same drug mafia that thrived under BJP is now rubbing shoulders with Congress leaders. Youth are trapped in the drug net, destroying families, yet the administration remains unmoved," he said.
CPM local committee secretary Ravinder Kumar announced plans to launch a grassroots campaign on key issues like roads, water, education, healthcare, and farming.
The committee has pledged support for the February 4 farmers' convention addressing land and agriculture concerns and will hold meetings across units before February 20 to intensify their movement.
Leaders including Naresh Dharwal, Sudarshan Walia, Mohan Sarwal, and Balak Ram were also present at the meeting, calling for collective action to tackle the neglect and corruption in Joginder Nagar.
