Shimla: Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has earmarked Rs. 13 crore for the establishment of heliports at strategic locations in Himachal Pradesh.
The designated sites include Rakkad and Palampur in Kangra district, Reckong Peo in Kinnaur district, and Chamba.
Emphasizing the state's challenging hilly terrain, the Chief Minister highlighted the importance of heliports in enhancing air connectivity for both tourists and locals, ultimately saving time and providing swift assistance during emergencies.
Sukhu underscored the significant role of the Tourism sector in bolstering the state's economy, alongside Horticulture and Hydropower sectors.
Recognizing the sector's impact on numerous families, he reiterated the government's commitment to prioritizing tourism infrastructure development.
The Chief Minister disclosed a target of attracting 5 crore tourists annually, with corresponding infrastructure initiatives underway.
Highlighting the government's efforts, Sukhu noted the successful Winter Carnival in Shimla as a testament to the increased tourist influx.
The state is actively launching schemes and events to enhance tourism, aligning with its broader goal of fortifying the tourism sector and providing a boost to the local economy.
