Shimla, 29th November 2024: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu met Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal in New Delhi on Thursday evening, pushing for a special industrial package for the state.
Drawing parallels with Jammu and Kashmir and the North-Eastern states, the Chief Minister emphasized the urgent need for such a package to promote balanced regional development in Himachal.
Sukhu also pressed for the revival of the transport subsidy scheme for hilly states like Himachal Pradesh, citing high logistics costs due to challenging terrain.
“Reintroducing this scheme would significantly boost industrial production and enhance exports,” he said.
The Chief Minister further requested funds for industrial infrastructure development projects, including quality testing and certification labs aimed at promoting exports.
He also sought the release of pending capital subsidy amounts under the Industrial Development Scheme (IDS) and expedited approval of pending cases under the same.
Union Minister Goyal assured the Chief Minister that the issues raised would be thoroughly examined and promised all possible support to the state.
